 Additional Costs

Buying the RV is only the start of the cost process. Here is a quick list of the additional costs you can expect to pay after the purchase.

  • State sales taxes can be very expensive (Call your county tax office and have them give you an estimate)
  • State Registration (My motorhome is $350.00 per year)
  • Insurance  (My motorhome is $2,000.00 per year)
  • Towing setup for your truck ($1500.00)
  • Towing setup for your call to flat / tow dolly behind a motorhome ($1500.00)
  • Camping supplies (sewer hose, water hose, tank chemicals, oil changes, tires, batteries, leveling pads, etc… could be $500.00+ easily)
  • Storage – $80.00+ per month depending on location, covered / un-covered, etc…
  • Maintenance $250.00+ per year to make the RV ready
  • Clubs if you decide to purchase thousand trails, owners group, etc… for various costs

Thats a short list above. The sky is the limit for the after purchase costs. It depends on you and what you need to do to get your new RV ready for that first trip. Either which way its not cheap.

Is it worth it? In my opinion yes it is worth it. Its an experience that I enjoy having with my wife and kids. I enjoy our trips.
